ABOUT ESRA ÇÖZGEN
Hello, I am Esra, I graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture. Since I was interested in sociology and philosophy in addition to my own department during my university education, I did many researches and studies in these fields.
My Architecture Life
In line with the career goals I had planned, I attended various courses and conferences required for my department after I finished my 2015 high school education. These trainings I received provided convenience in many aspects of my architectural life. For example, I had the opportunity to obtain more information by extending the research part I allocated to projects, since I had learned the programs that I had to learn in the architectural education process. Throughout my education life, I have always tried to touch on different aspects of architecture and touch every aspect of research. I reinforced this discovery by reading books, visiting exhibitions and examining structures.
I started my first internship in the summer term of the 2nd year. At the end of the 2-month internship, I finished by getting a lot of information from the office where I did my internship. During my internship, I produced projects in many different fields in NODE Architecture office. What we did in the projects we prepared were as follows: I made studies and productions in areas such as what should be considered in the design of public buildings, what the needs are for, the inputs and results in the design. Likewise, I developed my field experience and skills by doing my construction site internship in my 4th grade summer term.
I attended many conferences and talks throughout my education life. In fact, I realized how important such activities are in architectural education when I put my notes that I took while producing into practice. At the same time, I would like to mention workshops; I would like to talk about a workshop I attended during this process. I attended the PUPA workshop organized by Gebze technical university every year in 2018. The main theme of the group I was involved in at the workshop was dream space; Dream space is a workshop that wants to re-evaluate being in a state of migration and by addressing the spatial paradigms of migration. Rather than being a protective perimeter of space in the workshop
It is expected from the participants to create their own spaces in which these concepts are critically examined in line with the questions of belonging, temporality and property and in line with the discussions that will take place. These dream spaces can emerge with different scenarios of existence. The participants use these concepts as different environments, such as the temporality of the space, the nature of the material, the environmental factors or the temporality arising from the change of needs. .The main goal of the workshop was to create an integration by dealing with migration. I applied many knowledge and experience I gained from this workshop in my projects for the next two years.
Now that I have graduated from university, I continue to improve myself about my language and department, and to gain different perspectives.
